This growth medium is supplemented with L-glutamine and sodium pyruvate.
The DMEM:Ham's F12 medium is a 1:1 mixture of DMEM containing 4.5 g/L glucose and Ham's F12. Thus, it is possible to work with serum concentrations of 5% or less. Furthermore, it is an excellent basic medium for the serum free cell culture. It was supplemented with insulin to support the proliferation of BT-474 cells.

As this medium is rich in amino acids, hormones and minerals, it supports the growth of many cells and cell lines even under low serum conditions. Thus, it is possible to work with serum concentrations of 5% or less. This special medium has been adapted to support the proliferation of NCI-H295R cells. The final concentration of bovine serum is below 1%.

FRTL Cell Growth medium is based on Coon’s modification of Ham’s F12 und supplemented with hormones, L-Glutamine and FBS. Together with the TSH stock solution coming with the medium, it is ideally suited for the propagation of FRTL and FRTL-5 cells. Directly before usage, add the respective amount of TSH. Each aliquot provides enough TSH for preparing 100 ml complete FRTL Cell Growth Medium with a final TSH concentration of 16.5 ng/ml.
